Dare to love more!
Every year on the 14th of February we all get excited about Valentine’s Day. What if the person that I like tells me they have feelings for me? What if my partner will propose to me? What gift should I buy for my beloved one? What if.. But most of us don’t even know who was Saint Valentine and where did all this fuss started so let me tell you a little story.
A long time ago, in the third century, there was a priest from Rome named Valentine. During that time, Rome was under the leadership of Emperor Claudius II who decided to ban marriages because he believed that married men were bad soldiers and they weren’t any good for him. Well, our priest, Valentine, as a very romantic human being, couldn’t let that happen so he started arranging marriages in secret. When Claudius found out about this, he threw him in jail but instead of hurting him, he might have done the greatest good of his life. While he was in prison, Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter who was blind. On February 14, when he was taken to be killed, he sent her a love letter signed “From your Valentine”, and also he made her see again.
Now that we know who Valentine was, I have something to ask you: What are you doing on Valentine’s Day?
